Abolitionism:
Abolitionism is the movement for the manumission of slavery in the Americas and Europe. The movement first started in the 18th century when religious groups such as the Quakers and rationalist thinkers of the Enlightenment found slavery to be against Christian thought and human rights. Many groups were started to abolish slavery including the American Anti-slavery Society.
