Civil Rights Memorial

The Civil Rights memorial, designed by Maya Lin, is a memorial to those killed during the Civil Rights Movement. The memorial is in Montgomery, Alabama, a place where many events, killings, and protests took place. The purpose of the memorial commemorate the 40 victims of the Civil Rights movement.

The circular memorial made of black granite has the dates (a timeline) and names of those who were killed. A wall framing the plaza, also made of black granite, in which them memorial sits has a quote from Martin Luther King Jr:

"... we will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream. ..."

Water flows over the sides of the circular part of memorial.
