George Washington

American Revolution:

The American Revolution was the war between the British colonies in North American and Britain. Although the war didn’t officially start until 1775, the Boston Massacre in 1770 is considered one of the first battles. There are many reasons why the war happened the American colonies wanted freedom from British rule, thus taxes and laws as well. The war ended in 1783 with the signing of the Treaty of Paris.

When the war started blacks, both free and enslaved were fighting for the colonies. When George Washington took over the Continental Army, black soldiers were banned. The British army, however, was promising freedom to any slaves if they fought for Britain. Washington finally agreed to let free African Americans to fight in the war, allowing for the ultimate victory of the colonies.
