Vesey, Denmark:
(1762-1822) Born in Africa, Vesey was captured as a child and sold into slavery. He was a slave on a ship and traveled often. After winning a lottery, Vesey was able to buy his freedom. He spent a lot of time speaking on slavery and how African Americans needed to stand up for themselves. He then began to plan an uprising but was sold out. Vesey was hanged on June 22, 1822 for his attempted revolt.
