Attucks, Crispus:
(c. 1723-March 5, 1770) Crispus Attucks was known as the first victim of the American Revolution when British soldiers fired upon a crowd outside of the Boston Customs House. Known as the Boston Massacre, Attucks was the first to die. Not much in known about Attucks except that he was a fugitive slave working on whaling ships. Today he is buried near Boston Common at the Granary Burial Ground where a small monument dedicated to him is built.
